This term we held another careers fair, attended by pupils across all three sites. Pupils got the chance to speak to experts in a wide range of fields, from policing to funeral directing. In addition, pupils spoke to representatives from local colleges to help outline post-16 progression avenues.
This Careers Fair was the busiest yet, with more than 15 individual vendors booked to speak to pupils. Police & Fire rescue brought pupils valuable insight into working in emergency services, whereas industry powerhouses such as Melten and Nissan gave pupils practical insight into their respective industries.
A pupil-led Elemore News Team also made its debut, interviewing visitors, staff and pupils to get the inside scoop on the day’s events. Click here to see what people had to say about this year’s careers fair!

Out of the many careers events I have been to your students are by far the most polite and I could tell for a lot of them they were nervous to ask questions but they all pushed themselves. I also noticed how genuinely passionate staff are about the students needs. It was a lovely morning. I will definitely attend any future events

Our young people were blown away by the engagement from yours, and they’re looking forward to working more closely with the school – not just from a career’s perspective, but as part of the work they do day-to-day with youth council. The voices of young people in ‘alt or specialist provision’ are so often missed, or not considered important, and it’s something DYC councilors have always been passionate about.

A group of pupils have completed a half-marathon sponsored walk to raise money for a local charity. IF YOU CARE SHARE foundation work with families who have been impacted by suicide and look to improve mental wellbeing in the North-East. Both sites recently took part in races to raise money for a number of charities which are near and dear to our hearts.
